Q What is meditation?

Contrary to what many people think, meditation isn’t about changing who you are. It’s about becoming aware of who you are, what you’re doing, and what’s around you. There is no “magic switch” to turn off your thoughts and feelings. You don’t need to be David Copperfield to learn to WATCH thoughts and feelings pass you by like traffic. You don’t need to be like the Buddha on the mountain in complete stillness. This is the beautiful practice of awareness and the “art of allowing”.

Q Why should I meditate?

That’s an easy one. You see, people have been meditating for thousands of years. Mentally, you’ll likely see an improvement in your memory, attention span, better awareness and self-control, and increased blood flow to the brain, release of foggy brain and clearer thoughts. Physically, meditation laser-targets the stress-induced hormone, cortisol, lowers blood pressure and heart rate, boosts the immune system, relaxes muscles, and even slows down the aging process. Yep – it’s a win-win all around! And, above all, meditation helps you to “take a chill pill” and gain a deeper sense of self – helping you find peace with your past, present, and future.
